The top series of images shows a young man named Olivier before and during his enrolment in the French Foreign Legion, as her work shows a high interest in not only the effects of natural but also socially caused change.The second image of a young women, shows two different sides of her identity, which is something that I find interesting, as everyone as several different sides to them and Dijkstra shows this with just a simple portrait.

I’m so down. Saw some of her portraits last time I was at the ICA in Boston; it was good then, but I’m sure it’ll be better at SFMoMA- the ICA’s curation of their permanent collection is so weird; I could probably do it better while on acid trying to translate what I wanted to someone who doesn’t speak english. Just sayin’.
